Favorite Foods of Destin

Hello everyone. My name is Nathan, and I live in Destin.
I had a semi normal day... I mean, gale force winds, sunny day, pretty good. Beat my high score in Temple Run... Good stuff.
Now, I'm gonna talk about the cuisine of Destin. Now, first things first... America doesn't really HAVE a cuisine. It's a bunch of cuisines mashed together until you can't even tell which nationality it's all from. But to tell the truth, each part of America has its own special local foods. First and foremost, if you go to the North, sweet tea doesn't exist! I'm not too much a fan of tea in general, (sides Thai Ice Tea) but its good when you got nothing else to drink. I don't really care too much about the subject, but its funny to hear people complain about how "there's no darn sweet tea up there!"
My favorite foods of Destin mainly go along like this: Thai restaurants, sushi bars. Everything else goes a little lower. Now, my Virginian friend loves pizza. So do I. But the thing is, my mom is a gourmet chef. Literally. She can cook practically anything, and nigh on everything she makes is delicious! Even some of the salads! But what gets me every time, is to get a slice of gluten free, corn free, dairy free, sunflower free, raspberry free pizza... AND IT STILL TASTES GOOD!
How does she do this, you ask?
   I.
  Have.
  No.
  Idea.
But it tasted good! But to have a slice of normal pizza... mmmmm... So good... especially from my mom. Tops every pizza place I've been to yet. And some of my best childhood memories is shaping crazy looking mini pizzas from leftover pizza dough... Ah... memories...
But alas, soon that playfullness was soon completely overtaken by an overwhelming hunger! Teenage years, watcha gonna do about them, right?
Back to the foods of Destin.
Sushi bars are generally really good in Destin. A lot of fish places are, for those who like normal fish. Me, I just like sushi. Don't ask me why, but the raw to me is better than the cooked. Some people don't like being served bait. For me, I just say, "If its good enough for the fish, its good enough for me! Gimme another!" I mainly like salmon rolls, but recently I just got into something I really would never had considered a year ago.
  Eel rolls. Mmm...
Mainly cause of the eel sauce served with the eels, though. But its still good, either way! You go to a sushi bar anywhere, and most of the good ones will have some sort of dragon roll. Served with softshell crab with eel, some avocado and maybe something like a cucumber to add just a little more crunch, and a drizzling of eel sauce. Delicious! Order it, and you'll be asking for some more, or, you know, be stuffed cause you ate it all too fast!
I like Thai places a lot too. Though I most definitely like a blend of Japanese and Thai, Thai is good too. Pad Thai, Pad Ke Mou, those chicken skewer things... all really good! I definitely suggest the noodles dishes, though be careful for the hots. Depends on the restaurants, because sometimes if you order medium, it'll be hot. If you order hot, it'll be HOT. But for those of you who just can't go another day, or just love burning the taste buds off your tongue, there's Thai hot. So if you're a wimp like me and appreciate a nice touch of spicy to your meal but not so much it drowns all else, mild is good!
Now, something that crossed my mind but I can't believe I didn't mention it earlier- Italian.
Man, Italian is delicious. One of the best cuisines there is. Spaghetti, Lasagna, Baked Ziti... Oh my word, I am getting starved! And the list has just begun!
Now, the thing is about Destin, you won't see many Italian places. You'll see Camilles or Fat Clamenzas, and a giant surplus of pizza places, but nothing much else. Its sad. But alas, that's why I love my moms cooking! She cooked Italian two days ago!
Now there's two more cuisines and Destin you'll notice as well. Not so much Chinese, but most definitely Mexican. Man, there is a lot of Mexican restaurants, but if you ever come to Destin, go to La Paz. You won't see from the road, but man, it is the best Mexican restaurant I have come across. Now, I may have rose colored spectacles on right now, considering I work at the place. But man, I love the food list, they prepare their food right with good ingredients, and the chefs are pretty cool! Just don't expect to see em out of the kitchen.
Now that's the majority of foods that I can think of at this moment. Hope you enjoyed this last minute blog of foods that left me pretty darn hungry, and good night! Or, as my Mexican comrades call it, Buenos noshes!
